Most of the time marriage certificates are not a big deal. Just head on down to your local county records office and ask for it. They'll usually charge you a few dollars to get you a copy.
But what if you don't know where you were married? I know it sounds crazy but some people move around so much that really can't remember. Now the problem gets much harder.
You can't easily start calling every county in the country. But you can use your home computer to do a nationwide marriage records search and find it!
That's a problem a friend of mine had once and I helped her do it. What's even more interesting is that I tried a few different sites which had very different results. So I started poking around and found that there a lot of people that have problems finding marriage certificates.
In many cases people just want to see if someone was ever married. I can only imagine why they would want to know this, but with what I've learned it shouldn't be a big deal at all.

If a new site comes online and can't find a few specific marriage licenses I know about then it's junk and I'll tell you about it.
